The Polar Express, released in 2004, is the animated story of a young boy who embarks on an adventure to the North Pole on the Polar Express. The director of this movie is Robert Zemeckis, which directed the Back to The Future movie series, and another remarkable Christmas animation - A Christmas Carol (2009). Voices of the main characters are interpreted by: Tom Hanks, Leslie Zemeckis, Eddie Deezen, Nona Gaye, Peter Scolari, Brendan King, Andy Pellick, Josh Eli, Mark Mendonca, Rolandas Hendricks, Mark Goodman, Jon Scott, Gregory Gast, Sean Scott, Gordon Hart.
With an estimated budget of $165m, this movie raised a bit more than $23m during the opening weekend.
Storyline
Santa Claus does not exist. Or does he? For one doubting boy, an astonishing event occurs. Late on Christmas Eve night, he lies in bed hoping to hear the sound of reindeer bells from Santa’s sleigh. When to his surprise, a steam engine’s roar and whistle can be heard outside his window. The conductor invites him on board to take an extraordinary journey to the North Pole with many other pajama-clad children. There, he receives an extraordinary gift only those who still believe in Santa can experience.
